In the morning, we take an overland drive of 100 kilometers, or 2 hours, along Yunnan-Tibet Road to Qiaotou (1850 meters), or the upper Tiger Leaping Gorge. It is one of the deepest canyons in the world and a magnificent gorge formed by the Yangtze River here. With steep peaks on both sides of the canyon and the rushing and stirring waters of the river, the scenery is spectacular. Before we arrive tiger leaping gorge, we will use about 45 minutes visit a Lamaism monastery named Zhiyun Monastery, which has numerous Buddhist halls and pagodas enshrining various Buddhist Bodhisattvas and statues. The temple is situated on a tree-lined hillside with a backdrop of green mountains and a pleasant view.Then another 1.5 hour visit Shigu town (first bend of Yangtze River) .
From Qiaotou, drive 9 kilometers along the gorge road to scenic spot, walk along with paved steps down to the bottom of gorge, visit the gorge and then walk up to parking, it will take about 2 hours total. We will drive 2 hours back to LiJiang in the afternoon.
